Statistics
27/08/08 10:45
This post has been prompted by the analytic tool I use, Clicky, producing some widgets to display various traffic statistics for their users sites/blogs. I’ve been trying to find a place on my site for these widgets but so far nowhere seems quite right. So I’ve decided to start a category for Statistics here.
This way people can dive in and have a look if they’re interested or leave it if they’re not.
As for the statistics they are going up month by month. This month so far we’ve had over 700 unique visitors. Most of them, about seventy percent came looking for a Land Rover to buy.
We’re also being found by new methods this month, namely social networking and directly by email too which is nice. More than one person has even browsed this site on their mobile phone! The strangest search term off the top of my head was “rangrover” although that was prior to this month. I like the fact that searching Series 3 or iii or III will bring up this site when someone searches for a Series III although I haven’t checked how far or how many pages down those results are on Google.
Thankfully stats are still going up which can only be good for us all.
As ever, thanks for reading,
R!

Links, Europe and news.

I hope everyone is having a grand summer and the weather in your area is good.
This is to let you know that I can put links to other places you might have listed your Landy whether its eBay, AutoTrader, Loot, Gumtree, a club site or wherever, making this one of the most versatile places to list your Land Rover.
We’ve also gone European with a lovely Forward Control in Germany being added. This is a great area to be expanding into because there are a lot of very enthusiastic Land Rover owners in Europe.
Other news falls very much along my familiar themes of search, traffic and site news. In search we’re being found more and more. Traffic is up quite a lot even accounting for the holiday season and in site news I hope to be expanding the help menu soon. I’ve just been analysing the traffic to the site while writing this as if to confirm that traffic is up and I am very heartened by the comparisons such as the last 30 days to the previous 30 days etc. Also what visitors do while they’re here, how quickly they leave and all the other important things are good too.

New design

There’s no doubt, if you’ve visited the site before today, that you’ll notice the design has changed. You might also notice the previous blog entries aren’t here either. I’ve been thinking about re-populating all the other blog entries but am not sure if that’s worthwhile or not. Obviously now is the time to speak up and email me if you really want to see the previous blog entries but I suspect that demand won’t be that great so we’ll leave that thought in the pending file for now.
For those of you who didn’t read the previous blog entries I’ll summarise. Most of the entries concerned statistics and web design news, mainly because the site has only really been functioning fully (ie. with Land Rovers in it) since the end of April 2008. Since then I’ve been posting entries such as having 317 visitors in the first 30 days, being 4th in a search result powered by Google, some of the search terms that have found the site (rangrover anyone?), commenting on how many people find the site through natural search and the work I did towards achieving that plus a virtually continuous plea to find Land Rovers that people are selling.
There was an entry about how and why this site differs from the rest (eBay, AutoTrader et al) but that can be very easily covered in three words ‘the personal touch’. No ‘ooers!’ please.
The only other blog entry of note, besides the boring ones explaining what a pain forms are, the new computer and other entries which I’m clearly glossing over or leaving out; is the one quoted below which I’ll put in because I think the subject is still recent enough.
All that’s left to say is welcome, enjoy the new look and feel of the site. I hope it’s better than the old one and all feedback is very welcome and appreciated.
Thanks,
R!

On my personal site www.isemann.co.uk my latest blog entry has some interesting survey results (not Land Rover related) gleaned from a survey by YouGov about what people in the UK and the USA think about various issues. It's not the most mind-blowing stuff, more like mmmm.. kind of stuff but of some interest never the less. If you want to check it out just use the link above to go to the site.
